A decade after the 2013 “Lost Summer” protests, environmental leaders told a Stuart audience that public pressure remains key to protecting the Treasure Coast’s waterways. Speakers including Edie Widder, Eve Samples and Tyler Treadway urged residents to stay engaged, hold elected officials accountable and embrace citizen science to address issues such as biosolids and toxic algae blooms. They emphasized that sustained community involvement and forward-thinking policy are essential to improving water quality now and in the future.
