Top area officials, Massachusetts prosecutor brainstorm about criminal justice issues

Treasure Coast criminal justice leaders joined a Massachusetts district attorney for a 90-minute virtual forum to discuss collaboration on crime, mental health, substance abuse and racial inequities. Suffolk County DA Rachel Rollins highlighted diversion programs and data-driven reform, while local officials emphasized balancing reform with victims’ rights and enforcing existing laws. Participants agreed many root causes of crime stem from broader societal issues, arguing that lasting change requires investment in education, mental health services and community support.
